Funerals at the Masjid
Pay your respects
When a member of our community passes away, we open our doors for family, friends and neighbours to gather, offer condolences and pray together.
A community gathered in prayer
The Janāzah prayer is a collective duty (farḍ kifāyah) — the more people who attend, the greater the mercy sought for the deceased. Whether you knew them well or only by name, your presence and du'ā are a gift to the family and to the soul of the departed.
When you visit
Etiquette & what to expect
Offer condolences
A simple, sincere word to the family is enough — "May Allah grant them Jannah and you patience."
Dress modestly
Loose, modest clothing in plain colours. Brothers and sisters have separate prayer areas.
Make du'ā
Pray for forgiveness and mercy for the deceased — the most valuable gift you can offer the family.
Arrive a little early
Janāzah prayers are short — please arrive 10–15 minutes before the announced time.

إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ
"Indeed we belong to Allah, and to Him we shall return."
اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لَهُ وَارْحَمْهُ
"O Allah, forgive him and have mercy on him."
اللَّهُمَّ أَجِرْنِي فِي مُصِيبَتِي وَأَخْلِفْ لِي خَيْرًا مِنْهَا
"O Allah, reward me in my affliction and replace it with something better."
What to say to the family
There is no fixed formula — sincerity matters more than wording. A gentle "I'm so sorry for your loss, may Allah grant them Jannah" or simply being present in silence is deeply appreciated. Avoid long conversations; the family is grieving and tired.
Has someone in our community passed away?
Please let us know so we can announce the Janāzah prayer to the community and open the masjid for those wishing to pay their respects.
